Dirk Mädrich (born July 16, 1983 in Moers ) is a former German basketball player .

Career

His career began in the B-youth of HTV Homberg (district of Duisburg). Then the already two meter tall girl moved to BG Dorsten in the 1st regional league. In the 2001/02 season Liviu Calin brought him to Braunschweig. At the same time, the inside player began training as an office clerk, which he also successfully completed. As an 18-year-old he was already sniffing the first division air, but mainly played for the cooperation partner SG Braunschweig in the 1st regional league. In the 2002/03 season he achieved a remarkable 9.3 points and 5 rebounds on average. In addition, Mädrich went through the management training in the U20 national team, later also in the A2, and most recently in the senior national team.

Then came the change to GHP Bamberg for the 2004/05 season . The meanwhile 2.11 meter tall and 100 kg heavy girl had improved continuously and achieved 1.8 points in the Bundesliga in an average of 6:58 minutes of playing time. In the coming season he was back in the BG / ENERGY Braunschweig dress for 11.5 minutes, with an average of 3.1 points and 2.1 rebounds clearly improved. In the 2006/07 season he moved to the French 1st division to SIG Strasbourg, where he made his first international appearances in the ULEB Eurocup and played a good role. Internationally, Dirk Mädrich justified the trust placed in him with 4.3 points and 3 rebounds. In the French league, he got 5.3 points and 3 rebounds per game in just over twelve minutes per game.

From 2007 to 2009, two seasons followed for the Bundesliga club Artland Dragons, for which he was also used in the ULEB Eurocup. He then switched to Olympiada Patron , but he was only able to play eight games due to injury and returned to Germany in December 2009. Mädrich spent the rest of the season doing rehab. For the 2010/11 season he signed with the Bundesliga club Gießen 46ers .

The change to the ProB team of SC Rasta Vechta took place in October 2011. At the Lower Saxony third division team, Mädrich matured into a leading player. The center recorded 12.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game and thus managed to move up to the ProA with his team, where his odds did not change and he stormed back to the top of the table with the promoted team.

After relegating back to the ProA with Vechta in 2013/2014, Mädrich did not extend his contract with Rasta Vechta and left the club. He then signed a contract with Telekom Baskets Bonn until 2016. In his first season with the Baskets (2014/15), Mädrich was used an average of 15 minutes per game and scored 8.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. In the following season, Mädrich was able to achieve 7.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. His throwing strength from a distance was rather unusual for a center: he hit 27 of 75 three-point throws over the course of the season (36% throwing rate). At the end of the 2015/16 season, Mädrich did not receive a new contract, as the Baskets were aiming to completely rebuild the squad after a sportingly disappointing season. For the 2016/17 season, Mädrich therefore switched to EWE Baskets Oldenburg .

After his contract expired in the summer of 2017, Mädrich returned to SC Rasta Vechta and signed a contract with the ProA league team for the 2017/2018 season. This season, Mädrich was with the Lower Saxony champions of the second highest German division. In 35 appearances he scored an average of 8.1 points on the way to winning the title. Then he left the club. In June 2019, after being out of a club for a year, he announced the end of his career.
