Dirk Peters

Dirk Johann Peters (* 1949 ) is a German technology historian .

Life

After graduating from high school, Peters did a shipyard apprenticeship and served in the German Navy . He then studied history , German literature , education and philosophy at the University of Hanover . After the two state examination, he was in 1980 with a social science doctorate at the University of Hanover to Dr. phil. PhD . In the same year he entered the service of the German Maritime Museum . From 2004 until his retirement (2014) he headed the shipping department in the industrial age . He held teaching positions at the University of Hanover (1984–1991), the University of Osnabrück and the University of Hamburg .
