Dirk Seiler

Dirk Seiler (born January 2, 1967 in Altenkirchen (Westerwald) ) is a German drummer who works in the fields of jazz , fusion and pop music .

As a child, Seiler first learned the recorder and clarinet; from 1973 he had drum lessons with Bernd Steffen (Rheinische Philharmonie Koblenz). From 1976 he played in dance bands, wind orchestras and in the Harro Steffen Big Band; 1985–1993 he completed a classical percussion course at the Musikhochschule Köln , 1989–1994 also jazz drums, a. a. with Jeff Hamilton , Keith Copeland and Peter Giger . During this time he was a member of the Federal Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Peter Herbolzheimer from 1989-1991 and worked on the latter's album Bujazzo Vol. II . He also played with Randy Brecker , Slide Hampton , Jiggs Whigham , Ack van Rooyen , Silvia Droste and in the Glenn Miller Orchestra (Ghost Band), with various rock and blues bands and as a session musician in musicals, radio and television productions , u. a. with Ron Williams and in the WDR magazine west.art . From the mid-1990s he worked a. a. in the Frank Barani BigBand, with Peter Koller, Eden West and in the Peter Autschbach project. With his pop band Kölner Seelen he recorded the album Im Westen Was Neues in 2011 . Seiler lives in Fluterschen , Westerwald .
