Dirk Wrobel (born June 18, 1983 in Stuttgart ) is a German former ice hockey player who was under contract with the Bietigheim Steelers in the 2nd Bundesliga until 2010 .
Career
Wrobel began his career in 2000 at SC Bietigheim-Bissingen . The then 17-year-old immediately joined the regular squad and played 38 games for the Steelers in his first season. He could not achieve a scorer point. In the following years, the defensive player increased and increased his points yield steadily. For the 2003/04 season he joined the REV Bremerhaven , which was then active in the major league . With the REV, the German was finally able to move up to the second highest German league, the 2nd Bundesliga, at the end of the season.
In the summer of 2005, the people in charge of his home club, the Bietigheim Steelers, took him under contract, for which Wrobel has been putting on ice skates ever since. The 2007/08 season was the best season of his career. The left-shooter completed a total of 57 league games and was able to achieve 25 scorer points. Wrobel was thus one of the defenders with the highest points in the team. Since at the end of October 2008 several licensed players from the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg were absent due to injuries, the Wolfsburg management provided both Dirk Wrobel and his teammate Alexander Dotzler with a development license . Both were therefore also eligible to play for the DEL team. However, both players only played one game each for Wolfsburg.
After the 2009/10 season , Wrobel ended his active ice hockey career at the age of 26.
International
At the U18 World Cup in 2001 , Dirk Wrobel reached the quarter-finals with the German junior national team and ultimately came in fifth. Thus the league could be secured. In the eight games he played, the defender was able to achieve an assist . Two years later he was nominated again for the junior national team, with which he took part in the 2003 U-20 World Cup in Canada. With a final ninth place, the defensive player and his team were relegated to the B-WM. Wrobel was used in six games and was able to score twice.
