job

Discoteca Flaming Stars' artistic activity focuses on their appearances and performances. They also create sculptures, drawings, banners, carpets and film works, which, arranged in an installation, serve as a setting for their conceptual music performances. Discoteca Flaming Star use songs and texts in different languages, images and sounds to question public knowledge and memory. They use a wide range of references, including from pop culture or documentations of historical, political and social events, and operate between social initiative and event documentation. In their way of working, they enter into cooperative structures and interdisciplinary contexts. In the past, Discoteca Flaming Star has repeatedly played Rita McBride's installation arena , including in 2000 at the New Aachen Art Association and in 2007 at the Tate Gallery of Modern Art in London and the Whitney Museum of American Art , New York. The group's interventions were described as “hardcore karaoke”.

In 2015, Discoteca Flaming Star was next to video artist Nevin Aladağ and Peter Vogel for the second “Kubus. Sparda-Kunstpreis im Kunstmuseum Stuttgart "nominated for the topic" Art & Music ".

Gómez Barrio and Mayer have been professors at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart since the summer semester 2011 . Until 2018 they held the chair in the field of fine arts / intermedial design (IMG). Since the 2018/2019 winter semester, you and Felix Ensslin have been leading the practical art master’s course “Body, Theory and Poetics of the Performative”.
