Dita von Szadkowski

Dita von Szadkowski (* 1928 in Munich ; † March 30, 2012 in Krefeld ) was a German music journalist and jazz author . For decades she was one of the few women who write about jazz.

Act

Dita von Szadkowski studied music (piano), literary history and journalism in Munich. After her studies, she worked as a journalist for the Süddeutscher Verlag . In the 1970s she became a music critic for the Westdeutsche Zeitung in Krefeld. During this time she also started writing about jazz. She wrote for the specialist magazines Jazz Podium and Jazzthetik and regularly produced radio features for WDR , NDR and various other broadcasters. In addition to her journalistic work, Dita von Szadkowski organized numerous concerts in her hometown of Krefeld and founded various cultural associations.
