Dlouhý důl is the Czech name for a valley in the central Giant Mountains . There were different names in German during a long period of settlement: “Sankt Peters Lange Grund”, or “Langer Grund” for short, which is also the meaning of the Czech name. At times the terms "Klausengrund" or "Klausengraben" were also used.

location

The valley is home to the St. Petr of Špindlerův Mlýn district . It begins on the southern slope of the Luční hora ( high meadow mountain ) or Kozí hřbety (goat back) west below the mountain hut Chata Výrovka ( fir tree ). In the south, the valley is bordered by the Plán ridge with the Stoh . The exit is before the confluence of the Svatopetrský potok ( groundwater ) in the Elbe in the Czech town of Špindlerův Mlýn ( Spindleruv Mlyn ).

tourism

In the valley lies Svatý Petr ( St. Peter ), a district of Špindlerův Mlýn. In the south of the valley there is the Stoh slope ( haystack ) down from the Plan ridge and the Špindlerův Mlýn ski area at the exit of the valley. Four hiking trails run through the valley in an east-west direction.

  • As everywhere in the Czech Republic, the red route is the most important and most attractive route for tourists. Coming from Špindlerův Mlýn, it leads east-northeast over the Kozí hřbety past the ruins of the Rennerbaude towards Luční bouda .
  • The yellow path leads approx. 300 m north of the red path from the Hotel Horal to the red path just before the tree line. It runs 4 km in length at almost 100 m higher elevation through woodland and is an alternative to the red path.
  • The green path also begins at the Hotel Horal and crosses the town of Sv. Petr without any notable differences in altitude as far as Svatopetrský potok and accompanies it until shortly before the source, where it turns to Vyrovka on the saddle and ends further down the valley to Richtrovy boudy.
  • The southernmost hiking trail starts at the Sv. Petr and is marked blue in the forest on the northern slope of the Plan. Below the Stoh, the path turns south and reaches the ruins of Klimovka bouda, from where it continues to Dolný Dvur.
