location
The Medvědín belongs to the Bohemian Ridge of the Giant Mountains and lies above the confluence of the Elbe with the Bílé Labe ( White Water ) northwest above Spindleruv Mlyn (Czech: Špindlerův Mlýn , Polish: Szpindlerowy Młyn) and about 2.5 km northwest of the Silesian Ridge of the Giant Mountains, the border with Poland.
The north and east slopes drop steeply into the Elbe valley. In the south runs the Žalský hřbet ( Heidelbergkamm ), which is connected to the Medvědín by the saddle above Horní Mísečky ( Schüsselbauden ). In the west, the Medvědín is connected to the Goldhöhe (Czech. Zlaté návrší) via a flat saddle.

tourism
A chairlift has been leading from Spindleruv Mlyn to the summit since 1975, from which there are impressive views of the Elbe Valley, the Veilchenstein and the snow pit hut.
During the summer season it can be chosen as a starting point for many hikes with its mountain station; for example via the Elbbaude ( Labská bouda ) to the source of the Elbe and via the bear hut back to Spindleruv Mlyn.
Well-developed slopes of all levels of difficulty start here in winter. Together with the slopes to Horni Mísečky, they form the most famous ski area in the Czech Republic.
There is also a transmitter on the summit, which ensures a sufficient selection of radio and TV programs in the surrounding villages.
