Dmitri Wladimirowitsch Gerasimenko ( Russian Дмитрий Владимирович Герасименко , scientific transliteration Dmitrij Vladimirovič Gerasimenko ; born October 1, 1987 in Slatoust ) is a former Russian and present-day Serbian judoka and samboka .

Career

At the beginning of his active sports career, Gerasimenko mainly started in judo for Russia and won bronze at the Summer Universiade 2007 in Bangkok , before two years later at the Summer Universiade 2009 in Belgrade he won the title over 90 kg and won silver with the team. In 2006 and 2009 he also won silver at the Russian Judo Championships.

On August 16, 2011, Gerasimenko took on Serbian citizenship, joined the SD Crvena Zvezda and has since started for Serbia in judo and sambo. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, he lost in the second round to the eventual finalist Asley González . In the first round he won against Kinapeya Kone from Ivory Coast . In 2012 and 2014 he twice secured the title of runner-up at the Serbian Judo Championships.

At the European Sambo Championships in Athens in 2018 , he won the bronze medal in the 90 kg weight class. A little later Gerasimenko started at the Sambo World Championships 2018 in Budapest and won bronze there too. At the European Games in Minsk in 2019 , he secured another bronze medal in his weight class.
