Dmytro Vlasowytsch Stepowyk (born October 7, 1938 in Slobodyschtsche , Zhytomyr Oblast , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian art historian , theologian and philosopher . He is professor of art history at the Kiev Orthodox Theological Academy and also works as a research assistant at the Rylsky Institute of Arts, Folklore and Ethnology.

Life

Dmytro Stepowyk came in the Oblast Zhytomyr the world and moved in 1951 with his family in the city Kamin-Kashyrskyi in the Oblast Volyn . From 1955 to 1960 he studied journalism at the National Taras Shevchenko University of Kiev . He then studied art history on the doctoral program of the Rylsky Institute for Art, Folklore and Ethnology. In 1970 he received his doctorate in art history . In 1984 he completed his habilitation at the same institute . Between 1990 and 1992 he was professor for cultural and art history at the Ukrainian Free University in Munich . On August 6, 1990 he received his doctorate in art history from the Ukrainian Free University and on July 12, 1992 he received his habilitation at the same university. On December 10, 1992 he received the title of professor at the Rylsky Institute for Art, Folklore and Ethnology. Since 1993 he has been a lecturer at the Kiev Orthodox Spiritual Academy. From 1998 to 2007 he was professor of religious studies and theology at the National Vasyl Stefanyk University of the Subcarpathian Mountains . On December 21, 2001, Stepowyk received his habilitation in theology at the Kiev Orthodox Spiritual Academy. Between 2000 and 2014 he was professor of philosophy at the Kiev Orthodox Theological Academy and since 2014 he has been professor of art history at the same academy. Dmytro Stepowyk received the Order of Merit of Ukraine 2nd Class in 2008 .
