Dodenhof is a privately owned retail company with shopping centers in Northern Germany . The shopping center of the company's origin is in Ottersberg, Posthausen district in the Verden district near Bremen . The shopping center is close to the federal highways 1 and 27 . There is also a second shopping center in Kaltenkirchen in Schleswig-Holstein on federal motorway 7.
history
At the age of 23, Hermann Dodenhof opened a small general store in Stellenfelde in 1910. Just 15 years later, he bought a commercial building in Posthausen. At that time the place was still cut off from the public transport network. Thus supplied Dodenhof its customers as a "peddler" for years with bicycle , hand truck , and horse-drawn carriage to 1952 the first truck was purchased.
In 1961 a large department store was opened. The company's 50th anniversary had already been celebrated last year. In 1975 the largest furniture store in northern Germany was opened with 10,000 m² and in 1977 a collection warehouse was inaugurated in order to offer customers the largest possible range of goods and to ensure rapid availability.
In 1983 a supermarket was opened, in 1988 a gas station with a car wash and tire center. In 1994 the new building of the fashion house was completed on four floors. In 1998 the company expanded with the establishment of a furniture store in Kaltenkirchen with a total area of 30,000 m². In 2002 the “Dodenhof Card” was introduced. In 2006 a large fashion store was opened in Kaltenkirchen. In 2008 a sports and technology store was opened, and in 2010 Dodenhof celebrated the company's hundredth anniversary in Posthausen. In 2012 the shopping center was opened with a total of 24 external shops for clothing, lifestyle and gastronomy on an additional 10,000 m². Since then, Dodenhof has been one of the largest shopping centers in Germany. In 2014 a fashion & sports outlet was opened on a sales area of 2,200 m².
Since autumn 2015, the VBN bus route 760 has been reinforced with a shuttle service from Dodenhof - Ottersberger Bahnhof to every train on the RE4 line ( metronome ). The company is now in the fourth generation of the family.
In 2018 Dodenhof announced a strategic partnership in the area of furnishing and living with the Austrian furniture chain XXXLutz . The previous furniture stores ("WohnWelten") in Posthausen and Kaltenkirchen were transferred to two new, independent companies and renamed "XXXLutz Dodenhof". Dodenhof brings the WohnWelten Posthausen and Kaltenkirchen, the roof garden restaurants and the property at the Kaltenkirchen location into the transaction. XXXLutz holds 75 percent and Dodenhof 25 percent of the new locations.
Structure at the Kaltenkirchen location
The shopping center in Kaltenkirchen also has several product ranges (the so-called ShoppingWorlds).
- Die ModeWelt: fashion house
- XXXLutz Dodenhof: Furniture store, including young living
- The SportWelt: sportswear, streetwear

gastronomy
There are currently two restaurants at the Posthausen location, the roof garden restaurant on the third floor of the WohnWelten and the “Fashioncafé” on the third floor of the fashion house.
