The Dog Salmon River is a left tributary of the Ugashik River on the Alaska Peninsula in the southwest of the US state Alaska .

The approximately 120 km long river has its source in the Aleutian chain on the southern flank of Mount Kialagvik volcano . From there it flows in a predominantly north-westerly direction, forming a large number of river loops in the middle and lower area . The Dog Salmon River finally flows 6 km southwest of the village of Ugashik into the Ugashik River, 8 km above its mouth into Ugashik Bay .

Several species of salmon can be found in the river. The river name is derived from the ketal salmon ( Oncorhynchus keta ), which is also known as Dog Salmon in English .
