Dogma (Against Time) is a collaboration album by rappers Taktlo $$ and MC Basstard . The sound carrier was released on October 28, 2005 on Taktlo $$ 'label Fick die Biaaatch Rekordz .

Emergence

Tactless

The sound carrier is a concept album. The two rappers set a maximum time of two hours for the creation of a song during production. In the two hours, topic finding as well as beat production and the final mixing must be integrated. In interviews, the rappers explained that originally one hour was planned, but that two hours were later decided. According to the protagonists, the creation of some songs took more than two hours, because the producers, for example, did not produce the beat in a satisfactory quality within the tight schedule. Such songs were not published.

“Like everything with this project, it was a spontaneous idea. Taktlo $$ suggested we do an album together. In the beginning, the idea was that we would only take an hour for each track. But that wasn't enough for me, and so I said: Let's do two hours so that we can do something reasonably sensible. "

Meaning of the title

The album is based on the Danish Dogma films , in which, among other things, effects are dispensed with. The definition of the word dogma as a “defining definition” can also be applied to the production of the album.

Participating musicians

The only guest rappers that appear on the sound carrier are the Berliner Frauenarzt and MC Bogy , with whom Taktlo $$ and Basstard recorded the piece of music Curtain on 2 . This is the continuation of the song Curtain Up , which was partly responsible for the fact that the four rappers and King Orgasmus One , who had a speaking part on the phone at the end of the piece, became known across the borders of Berlin in Germany a few years earlier. Curtain up has appeared on Taktlo $$ album BattleReimPriorität Nr. 3 (BRP3).

Dogma's songs were produced by various hip-hop musicians. Among others, NHT, gynecologist and Keyza Soze were involved in the production. Since the production of the beats had to take place within the maximum two hours of total production time, some producers were not able to put their beats on the sound carrier.

“In advance everyone was enthusiastic and motivated. Some were also satisfied with themselves afterwards, there were handshakes. We have no more contact with the others. They failed. "

illustration

The cover shows the two rappers. From the observer's point of view, Taktlo $$ is on the left and MC Basstard on the right. Both rappers each hold a hammer in one hand. A clock can be seen between the two protagonists , which points to 2 o'clock and thus underlines once again the time ultimatum. The two hammers are swiveled towards the clock. The title Dogma - Against the Time can be read above the heads of the rappers . The letters are each spelled differently and evoke the association with a kidnapper's letter, like those from films in which hostage-takers announce their ransom demand in a letter.

criticism

The German hip-hop magazine Juice awarded 3.5 out of a possible 6 “crowns” to the album Dogma (Against Time) . The coherence of the album is emphasized and it is emphasized that the songs on the sound carrier are not listened to in the short two-hour creation time. The reviewer also emphasizes the versatility of the texts "from cynical humor to splatter and horror stories to philosophical considerations".

“In view of the styles and content on display here, it should be clear that not every rap fan will be happy with dogma . Nevertheless: An entertaining album to which one should devote an hour of valuable life time. "

- Final comment on dogma of juice

Daniel Fersch from hip-hop magazine MZEE.com wrote in an article about the album:

"Whether you found pleasure in the horror of the little man or you were more enthusiastic about whatever grandiose German rapeseed Helge Schneider uttered: nobody was disappointed."
