Dolichopoda ("long-legged": Greek δολιχός dolichos , long '; πούς pous [genitive ποδός podos ], foot, leg') is a genus of the Rhaphidophoridae within the order of the long-feeler terrors (Ensifera). Their representatives are troglobiont (permanent residents of caves ).

features

The species of the genus are very similar and are light yellow to brown. They are wingless in both sexes and have notably long legs and antennae. The females have a curved laying saber ( ovipositor ).

Ecology and diffusion

Most species evolved allopatric . They occur almost exclusively in natural caves, but also populate artificial cavities, such as the stone tombs of the Etruscans . The distribution area mainly covers the Mediterranean area with occurrences in France , Spain , Italy , Croatia , Macedonia , Greece , Turkey and Syria . Only one species is known from the Caucasus .
