Dolní Heřmanice is located in the Pardubický kraj ( Czech Republic ) west of the municipality Horní Heřmanice v Čechách, about 550 to 600 meters above sea level, on the course of a village stream (Sázavský potok) that flows into the Moravská Sázava . The place extends about 2 kilometers along the road Výprachtice - Horní Heřmanice from east to west. According to its settlement form, the place is a forest hoof village , which is embedded between two mountain ridges: north against the hill Valteřička, south against Valentovy vrchy.

history

Dolní Heřmanice shares essential events in its history with Horní Heřmanice (see there). The place was an independent and self-governing municipality after 1850. Applications to merge the place with other villages into one community were rejected in 1921 and 1945. It was not until 1971 that Dolní Heřmanice was combined with Horní Heřmanice and Rýdrovice to form a municipality, which consists of three separate cadastral areas (districts).

Population development

In the 1921 census, there were 586 people in the 128 houses in Dolní Heřmanice, including 575 Czechs and 10 Germans. As a result of the World War and the displacement , the population of the village fell from 550 inhabitants in 1930 to 269 in 1950. In 2011 Dolní Heřmanice had 145 permanent residents in 89 houses.
