The Domince was a combined car and passenger ferry that was built in 1966 as Nordfriesland .

history

North Friesland

The ferry was built in 1966 under construction number 1242 at the Husumer Schiffswerft GmbH in Husum as North Friesland for the Wyker Dampfschiffs-Reederei (WDR). It was launched on April 7, 1966. On June 11, 1966, the ship was delivered to the shipping company. Since then, the ferry has been sailing between the mainland port of Dagebüll and the islands of Föhr and Amrum . In 1971 the ferry was rebuilt, among other things the lifeboats were removed.

Limbara

In 1977, Nordfriesland was sold to Cagliari to "Tirrenia" di Navigazione SpA and renamed Limbara in 1978 . It now operated between Porto Vesme and Carloforte . On January 1st, 1988 it was sold to Sardegna Regionale Marittima (SAREMAR) in Cagliari. She continued to run on her line.

Domince

In 1992 it was sold to Mediteranska Plovidba dd in the Croatian city of Dubrovnik and renamed Domince - after a town on the island of Korčula . There it connected the mainland port of Drvenik and the island of Korčula.

After an unsettled water ingress on August 26, 2009, the ship had to be taken out of service. It was launched and offered for sale. In May 2010 the ship was scrapped at the Viktor Lenac Shipyard in Rijeka .
