Dominik Finkes
Dominik Finkes (born January 21, 1821 in Höbersbrunn , † September 2, 1889 in Vienna ) was an Austrian teacher, choirmaster and composer .
Life
Finkes was born in the small village of Höbersbrunn in the Weinviertel , which today belongs to the market town of Gaweinstal . In 1822 his father, a school teacher, got a job as a teacher and choirmaster at the St. Aegyd parish school in Vienna, which is why Dominik grew up in Gumpendorf (today the 6th district of Vienna , Mariahilf ). He received his musical education from his father, and subsequently studied with Ignaz von Seyfried , Simon Sechter and Joseph von Blumenthal . As a 19-year-old he was already mentioned in the Allgemeine Musikischen Zeitung . In 1840 he graduated from the teacher training college and from then on was a teacher at the same school as his father until his death. He followed this up as a choirmaster . In the years from 1854 to 1865 he also gave singing lessons at the Gumpendorfer Realschule .
