history

The building is a three-aisled basilica , the predecessor of which was founded in the 13th century and initially made of wood. In the 14th and 15th centuries both the church and the convent building were expanded and reconstructed. After a fire in 1850, the monastery church was rebuilt and refurbished. In 1957 it was raised to the rank of minor basilica .

In the presbytery is the epitaph designed by Veit Stoss for the Italian poet and scholar Filippo Buonaccorsi (Callimachus). It is the first such play in Poland for a person without secular or spiritual dignity.

The student mass on Sunday evening at 8:20 p.m. is particularly well known.
