Filippo Buonaccorsi , also: Bonaccorsi in Latin Philippus Callimachus Experiens (born May 2, 1437 in San Gimignano , † November 1, 1497 in Cracow ) was an Italian humanist , writer and statesman of the Renaissance .

Buonaccorsi was of aristocratic origin and studied in Rome , where he joined the circle of Julius Pomponius Laetus and was secretary to Bishop Bartolomeo Roverella . He was a member of the Accademia Romana . In 1468 Buonaccorsi had to leave Rome because he was accused of conspiracy against Pope Paul II .

In 1470 Buonaccorsi came to Poland , where he reached the highest level of influence in a very short time. He worked for Gregor von Sanok , the Archbishop of Lemberg, and dedicated the biography Vita et mores Gregorii Sanocei to him in 1476 .

He was the secretary of the Polish kings Casimir IV. Andrew and his son, Johann I Albrecht . He was entrusted with diplomatic missions to Constantinople , Venice and Rome. At the Cracow Academy , Buonaccorsi introduced the methods of humanistic learning. He wrote a number of historical works and wrote Latin poetry and prose, e.g. B. about the life of Bishop Zbigniew Oleśnicki , Bishop Gregor von Sanok and King Władysław III.

In Krakow he also joined Conrad Celtis and the scientific society Sodalitas Litteraria Vistulana, which he founded there . His tomb in the Dominican Church in Cracow was built by Veit Stoss .
