Don MacMillan
Don MacMillan (actually Donald Robertson Thomson MacMillan ; born January 5, 1930 , † November 19, 2004 ) was an Australian middle-distance runner . Because of his sprint strength , he was also used in the 4 x 400 meter relay .
At the British Empire Games in Vancouver in 1950 he was seventh in the mile run . In 1952 he was ninth at the Olympic Games in Helsinki over 1500 m and reached the semi-finals over 800 m .
In 1954 he won bronze at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Vancouver with the Australian 4-by-440-yard relay. Over 880 yards and in the mile run, he failed in the preliminary round. At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 , he was eliminated over 800 m in the preliminary run.
He was three times Australian champion over 880 yards (1950, 1952, 1955) and four times over a mile (1950-1952, 1955).
