Donaghadee ( Irish Domhnach Daoi ) is a small town in Northern Ireland in historic County Down . The city was part of the disbanded District Ards and has been part of the District Ards and North Down since 2015 . It is located on the northeast coast of the Ards Peninsula and is 18 miles east of Belfast . In 2011 it had around 6,900 inhabitants.
