Donji Svilaj is a village in the northeast of Bosnia and Herzegovina and belongs to the Odžak municipality . It is practically only inhabited by Bosnian Croats and has a primary school and a Catholic church. It borders the Sava River and therefore Croatia . You can take the ferry to Slavonski Svilaj. Two well-developed roads lead from here to Odžak and Modriča , one via Nevoljica and Potočani, the other via Novi Grad. There is also a road that leads to Brod , but which z. T. is in poor condition. The A1 motorway from Zagreb to Sarajevo is planned , which will pass Donji Svilaj and be given an exit there.

The church, which was built in 1972, was blown up during the war on July 16, 1992 by troops of the Bosnian Serbs and rebuilt in 2000 with donations. In the course of the mine clearance program of the International Trust Fund, 84 mines were removed from the area around Donji Svilaj in 2003 with funding from the European Union.
