Donyell Lamar Marshall (born May 18, 1973 in Reading , Pennsylvania ) is a former American basketball player and current coach. As a player, he was active in the NBA from 1994 to 2009 .

Career

Marshall was considered a good three-way shooter and rebounder . Together with Kobe Bryant and Stephen Curry, he held the NBA record for most three-pointers converted in one game (12) and was the eighth best rebounder in the league in the 2003/04 season . In the 2015/16 season , Curry broke the record with 13 converted threesomes.

Until 2009 he was active for the Philadelphia 76ers . Before he was with the Cleveland Cavaliers together with LeBron James under contract and reached there in the 2006/07 season the NBA final against the San Antonio Spurs . He also played in the NBA for the Minnesota Timberwolves , Golden State Warriors , Utah Jazz , Chicago Bulls, the Toronto Raptors and the Seattle SuperSonics .

For his achievements in his first year as a professional, Marshall was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 1995 .

After his career, Marshall worked for various lower-class college teams and for the Maine Red Claws from the D-League as an assistant coach. Since 2016 he has been coaching Central Connecticut State University in Connecticut .
