Doppl is the southernmost district of Leonding . With 2,844 inhabitants (as of 2011), Doppl is one of the most populous districts of Leonding.
geography
Doppl borders in the west and north on the sparsely populated Leondingen districts Staudach, Felling and Reith as well as on the federal highway 139. In the east the most populous district Leondings Hart forms the border, in the south the Wiener Straße B1 or the provincial capital Linz .
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1359 as "Topel", formed from Middle High German tobel (valley-like incision, depression).
Up until the middle of the 20th century, Doppl was extremely thinly and rural populated. During the Second World War , the district together with Hart had barely 500 inhabitants. After the Second World War there was a strong influx, the population increased sixfold by 1958 to over 3,000 inhabitants.
In Doppl there are mainly single-family houses. Street names such as VÖEST-Straße still bear witness to a close connection to VÖEST .
Infrastructure
In Doppl is the UNO Shopping, the largest vacant shopping center in Austria. The stadium of the most successful Leondingen football club, the ASKÖ Doppl-Hart 74 , is also located in Doppl.
