The local chapel Tregist or village chapel Tregist or chapel Mariaknotlöserin is located in the place Tregisttal of the cadastral municipality Hochtregist of the city Bärnbach , near the municipality border to Voitsberg , in the district Voitsberg in the western Styria ( Austria ). Their history goes back to the 1980s. Today's chapel was designed by Franz Weiss .

history

In the place of today's local chapel there was originally a chapel of the nearby, former alum factory , consecrated in 1884 . This was destroyed by a flood around 1955 and then removed. Today's chapel was built in the 1980s. This was consecrated on October 15, 1989. Today it serves as a station for the consecration of meat and for May devotions as well as a reception point for the light of peace .

description

The exterior and interior of the new chapel were designed by local sculptor and painter Franz Weiss between 1986 and 1992, after he had the wish to paint the old chapel as a young painting student under Rudolf Szyszkowitz . The inner walls and the ceiling as well as three outer walls are provided with large-scale wall paintings created using the techniques of secco painting and tempera painting.

Colored glass window

The two colored glass windows were made by master Odilo Kurka in the Schlierbach workshop. The entrance door is decorated with copper drifting and enamel paintings .

altar

The altar, designed with reverse glass painting , shows the main image of Mary untying the knot . The picture was taken under the impression of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in April 1986. The nuclear facility is depicted on Mary's left foot and the text “Chernobyl” is written on the knotted, black-colored ribbon.
