The Protestant village church Buckau is a listed church building in the Buckau district in the district town of Herzberg (Elster) in the Elbe-Elster district in southern Brandenburg . It is listed as a local monument in the local monument register under registration number 09135561.

Building description and history

The Buckau village church is a massive brick building with a crowned roof. In the east of the nave there is a semicircular apse , in the west a three-storey square tower crowned by a pointed helmet. The hall was built in 1860 and 1861 according to plans by the Liebenwerda building councilor Friedrich August Ritter. The church was consecrated on October 25, 1861. The interior of the church is characterized by a triumphal arch, a flat wooden coffered ceiling and a horseshoe gallery. The floor is laid out with square sandstone slabs. The furnishings of the church in the classical style with box stalls, patronage and pastor's chair, pulpit and baptism date from the time the building was built.

In the church now houses a further in 1861 from Eilenburger organ builder created Nicolaus Schrickel (1820-1893) organ . This organ has a mechanical slide box , two manuals and 14 stops .
