Albert Reinhold Harmes (born March 4, 1800 in Minden ; † December 15, 1859 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Origin and family

Albert Reinhold's father was Dr. med. in the East Westphalian city ​​of Minden, then still a Prussian fortress , his mother was Johanna Lisette, née Jochmus. He married Veronika Lafleur (1811–1864) in 1837.

Career

Harmes joined the Minden-Ravensberger Jäger Detachement as a volunteer hunter in 1815, was promoted to portepeef ensign in the 1st West Prussian Infantry Regiment in the same year and to secondary lieutenant in 1817 . In 1832 he was promoted to prime lieutenant . With his promotion to captain , he also became a company commander in the 3rd Infantry Regiment . In 1845 he was promoted to major and commander of the 2nd Battalion in the 11th Landwehr Regiment. Harmes moved to the 10th Infantry Regiment in 1848 and became director of the 11th Division's school in 1851 . His rise to lieutenant colonel was associated with a move to the 19th Infantry Regiment . In 1854 he became the commander of the 22nd Infantry Regiment and was promoted to colonel . Harmes received his departure in 1857 as a major general with a pension and was put up for disposal in the same year with a pension . He was buried in the old garrison cemetery in Berlin's Mitte district in 1859 .
