Heinrich von Buddenbrock

Heinrich Maximilian Guido Freiherr von Buddenbrock (born September 11, 1797 in Pläswitz in the Striegau district , † April 13, 1859 in Königsberg ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Origin and family

Heinrich was a member of the Barons von Buddenbrock . His parents were the Prussian major Karl Maximilian von Buddenbrock (1772–1826) and Marianne Dorothea, née von der Marwitz (1774–1843).

In 1828 he married Jeannette von Rosenberg-Gruszczynska (1803–1844), a daughter of the Prussian Major General Adolf von Rosenberg-Gruszczynski (1779–1844). The marriage resulted in six children.

Career

Buddenbrock began his career in the Prussian army in 1815 as a cuirassier in the East Prussian Cuirassier Regiment . In 1816 he was a non-commissioned officer in the 1st Guards Regiment on foot and advanced to Portepeef Ensign and Second Lieutenant . He rose to prime lieutenant in 1835 and became captain and company commander in 1835 . In 1841 he was aggregated to the regiment and commander of the school department of the training infantry battalion. He was promoted to major in 1843. In 1846 he was assigned to the 1st Guards Regiment on foot and in 1848 commander of the 1st Battalion. After his promotion to lieutenant colonel in 1851 he was placed in command of Glogau and à la suite of the regiment. In 1852 he was promoted to colonel and in 1854 commander of the 3rd Infantry Brigade . With his promotion to major general in 1857, he became commandant of Königsberg .
