Adolf Wilhelm Leopold Ludwig von Rosenberg-Gruszczynski (born September 12, 1779 in Littchen ( Marienwerder district ), † April 19, 1844 in Danzig ) was a Prussian major general and gentleman on Marienfelde in the Schlochau district .

Life

origin

He came from the Prussian aristocratic Rosenberg-Gruszczynski family . His father Franz Heinrich von Rosenberg-Gruszczynski (* 1721; † 1792) was a Polish major general and landowner. His mother Albertine Sophie Caroline (* 1743, † 1809) was born Countess von Rittberg . He had thirteen siblings, including the older brother August Burchard Raphael von Rosenberg-Gruszczynski (* 1770, † 1836), who was the Prussian district administrator.

Military career

Rosenberg came on September 1, 1793 as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "von Langen" of the Prussian army and advanced to October 1797 as a second lieutenant . Two years later he diminished and on November 30, 1806 , during the Fourth Coalition War , he was re-employed in the army as Prime Lieutenant in the 3rd West Prussian Reserve Battalion. With this he took part in the defense of Danzig and was put on half pay after the peace of Tilsit .

As a prime lieutenant with a patent from November 30, 1806, Rosenberg was aggregated to the 1st East Prussian Infantry Regiment on May 4, 1811 and assigned to August 2, 1811. On April 20, 1813 he was staff captain and on June 12, 1813 commander of the Jäger detachement of his regiment. During the Wars of Liberation , Rosenberg was wounded in combat near Dannigkow and Merseburg and was awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class. On December 10, 1813, he rose to captain and company commander . He also fought in the battles near Löwenberg, Goldberg, Hochkirch, the transition near Wartenburg and the battles near Saint-Dizier , La Chausse, Château-Thierry and Mery as well as in battles on the Katzbach and Laon . For Paris , Rosenberg received the Iron Cross 1st Class and the Order of Saint Anne 2nd Class.

After the peace he was promoted to major on February 14, 1816 , and appointed commander of the Fusilier Battalion on October 8, 1816. In 1825 he received the service cross . On March 30, 1830, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel with a patent from April 20, 1830 . As such, Rosenberg was initially commissioned to lead the 18th Infantry Regiment on March 30, 1832 , and was appointed commander on January 16, 1833. In this position he was promoted to colonel on March 30, 1833 with a patent from April 11, 1833 and was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle III on September 9, 1835 . Class with a bow. On March 30, 1838 he was transferred to the 12th Landwehr Brigade as commander and on April 7, 1838, he was aggregated to the 18th Infantry Regiment. Due to a stroke , the consequences of which he suffered for the rest of his life, Rosenberg was no longer fit for duty. He was then on 10 March 1840 as major general with board for disposition made.

He died on April 19, 1844 in Danzig and his widow received an annual grant of 100 thalers from King Friedrich Wilhelm IV .

His brigade commander, Colonel von Dedenroth, wrote in his assessment in 1834: “ Combines a successful activity in the training and economy of the regiment with a correct and practical view and security in commanding the troops without having excellent scientific knowledge. The gift of acquiring the love and trust of his subordinates, an undemanding legal character and orderly domestic conditions make him particularly respectable and recommendable for higher conditions. "

Rosenberg married Johanna Dorothea Mahler on March 17, 1801 in Danzig (born January 16, 1784 - † March 20, 1864). The couple had several children:
