Friedrich Emil Ludwig von Dedenroth (born April 30, 1786 in Pless in Upper Silesia , † December 11, 1850 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and commandant of the fortress Graudenz .

Friedrich was the son of the Prussian major Friedrich Ludwig Wilhelm von Dedenroth (* September 6, 1750; † July 11, 1797) and his wife Anna Christiane, born Strasbourg († May 11, 1804). The father was director of the cadet house in Stolp . His uncle Friedrich Ludwig Wilhelm fell as a Polish colonel in the Battle of the Beresina in 1812 .

Military career

Dedenroth visited the cadet houses in Stolp and Berlin . From there he was employed on April 9, 1804 as an ensign in the infantry regiment "Prince Hohenlohe" of the Prussian Army . In the Fourth Coalition War he fought in the Battle of Jena and came in mid-December 1806 as a Second Lieutenant in the 2nd West Prussian Reserve Battalion. After the Peace of Tilsit , Dedenroth was put on half pay on August 6, 1807 . He worked scientifically and wrote a report on the siege of Kolberg . Therefore, on May 1, 1809, he was assigned to the Topographic Office of the General Staff. On December 12, 1809, he received the notification that he would receive his full salary again from January 1, 1810. On April 1, 1810, Dedenroth became a real officer in the army and in mid-May 1811 he was attached to the general staff. On December 14, 1811 he was promoted to prime lieutenant and on February 26, 1812 transferred to the general staff. In the Russian campaign in 1812 Dedenroth fought near Eckau and Dahlenkirchen .

By the middle of September 1813, Dedenroth became captain . During the Wars of Liberation he fought in the battles near Großgörschen , Bautzen , Dresden , Kulm , Leipzig , Laon , Paris , Ligny and Belle Alliance . For Leipzig Dedenroth was awarded the Iron Cross II. Class and for Belle Alliance with the Cross I. Class. He also took part in the siege of Erfurt and the battles at Danigkow, Champaubert and Claye .

On February 8, 1815, Dedenroth was promoted to major in the General Staff of the 1st Army Corps and on March 17, 1815 was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir IV Class. In March and April 1816 he worked briefly in the 1st Department of the War Ministry and was then transferred back to the General Staff. On April 24, 1817, Dedenroth took a six-month vacation with half his salary to travel to Bavaria, Italy and Vienna . After his return he was aggregated on June 6, 1819 to the 28th Infantry Regiment . On March 30, 1823 Dedenroth was appointed commander of the 1st Battalion in the 29th Infantry Regiment in Saarlouis . In this position he rose on March 30, 1827 to lieutenant colonel and three years later to colonel . On 9 December 1830 charged him with the leadership of the 4th Infantry Regiment in Danzig and appointed Dedenroth on 24 September 1832 as commander of this association . In this position he was awarded the Order of St. Anne II Class with Crown on September 30, 1839 . On January 30, 1837, Dedenroth was then transferred to Posen as commander of the 10th Infantry Brigade and on April 9, 1837, was aggregated to the 4th Infantry Regiment. On March 30, 1838, he was promoted to major general and on March 22, 1843, he was transferred to the Danzig Fortress as commandant, and on September 21, 1843, he received a bonus of 500 thalers. Dedenroth gave this command in the following year and was appointed commander of the fortress Graudenz on March 30, 1844. When severe flooding occurred on the Vistula in autumn 1844 , Dedenroth took appropriate relief measures. King Friedrich Wilhelm IV then gave him special recognition. On the occasion of the festival of the Order, he was awarded the star of the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd Class with Oak Leaves on January 19, 1845 , and was promoted to Lieutenant General on March 22, 1845. With the statutory pension Dedenroth was for the March 5, 1846 disposition made. He died on December 11, 1850 in Berlin and was buried on December 14, 1850 in the northern area of ​​the Invalidenfriedhof .
