Adolf Louis von Rosenberg-Gruszczynski (born July 22, 1808 in Marienfelde , Schlochau district , † May 30, 1884 in Bonn ) was a Prussian infantry general .

Life

Adolf Louis was a member of the Lords von Rosenberg-Gruszczynski and the son of the later Prussian Major General Adolf von Rosenberg-Gruszczynski (1779–1844) and his wife Johanna Dorothea, née Mahler (1784–1864).

Military career

Rosenberg visited the cadet houses in Kulm and Berlin . Then he was aggregated on April 5, 1826 as a second lieutenant in the Kaiser Franz Grenadier Regiment of the Prussian Army and on June 14, 1829 was assigned to the rankings. From April 1830, Rosenberg was assigned to the school department of the Infantry Training Battalion in Potsdam for three years . He then acted as adjutant of the 1st battalion until the end of June 1836 and then rose to regimental adjutant. On January 14, 1842, he was appointed adjutant to the 1st Guards Landwehr Brigade, and in this position Rosenberg advanced to Prime Lieutenant on April 23, 1842 . From June 19, 1842 to March 26, 1847 he was then commanded as an adjutant to the 2nd Guard Infantry Brigade and was then transferred to the Adjutantur under promotion to captain and commanded to the command of the Guard Infantry. In this position Rosenberg took part in the suppression of the barricade uprising in Berlin in March 1848 . In mid-October 1849 he was transferred back to the Kaiser Franz Grenadier Regiment and served as chief of the 12th Company. With the promotion to major on September 11, 1852, Rosenberg was appointed commander of the Grand Ducal Mecklenburg-Strelitz Infantry Battalion and rose to colonel by the end of May 1859 . He then worked from August 23, 1860 to January 8, 1864 as commander of the Emperor Franz Garde Grenadier Regiment No. 2. During the tour of the Second Army Department in 1863, Rosenberg also acted as Chief of Staff for Prince Albrecht of Prussia . With the rank and fees of brigade commander, he was then appointed chief of the general staff of the Guard Corps and promoted to major general on June 25, 1864. Rosenberg was given command of the 3rd Guard Infantry Brigade on July 10, 1865, and from December 20, 1865 was also a member of the study commission of the War Academy .

During the mobilization on the occasion of the German War , Rosenberg became commander of the Guard Landwehr Division in the I. Reserve Corps at the Elbarmee . He took part in the Battle of Königgrätz and after the peace treaty in mid-September 1866 became commander of the combined division in the Elbe duchies . Shortly afterwards Rosenberg advanced to lieutenant general and received the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves and swords. From October 20, 1866 to July 13, 1870 he then served as commander of the 17th division . Then Rosenberg was appointed governor of Königsberg . On behalf of Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II , he was in command as Governor General of Reims from October 12, 1870 during the war against France , until Rosenberg was finally appointed governor on January 10, 1871 for the duration of the mobile relationship. In addition, he received the powers of a commanding general in this position from February 13, 1871 . In recognition of his achievements, he was awarded the Iron Cross II. Class and the Grand Cross of the House Order of the Wendish Crown .

On July 22, 1871, Rosenberg was transferred to the officers of the army, commanded to Württemberg and on July 27, 1871 appointed governor of the Ulm Fortress . In this position he received on March 22, 1873 the character of general of the infantry. Under awarded the Grand Cross of the Red Eagle with Oak Leaves Rosenberg was on 10 March 1874 the statutory pension for disposition made. Shortly afterwards, the Bavarian King Ludwig II awarded him the Grand Cross of the Order of Military Merit and King Karl paid tribute to him by awarding him the Grand Cross with Swords of the Order of the Württemberg Crown .

He was a legal knight of the Order of St. John .

family

Rosenberg married on November 2, 1836 in Berlin with Bertha Anastasia von Gruner (1817-1896). The marriage resulted in six sons:
