Golm village church

History and architecture

South side with porch
East gable

The village church Golm is a simple, mostly carefully executed rectangular building from the beginning of the 14th century made of field stone masonry with a brick component. It has a balanced gable over the east wall and pointed arched windows with a brick reveal . The windows on the south and east sides have a reveal of plastered masonry. The building is accessed through a step portal in the west. A south porch was added later. The ship's width west tower was completed in 1788 with a half-timbered tower with a pyramid roof.

The inside of the building is today not vaulted; but it shows pointed arches , which suggest an intended two-aisled three-bay complex. In the tower there is a barrel-vaulted hall, which is open to the ship with two arcades. The stylistic assignment of such a rural-archaic building to the Gothic can only be justified with the use of the pointed arch and the construction time.

Furnishing

West portal

The main piece of equipment is a simple, well-proportioned pulpit altar from the second half of the 18th century, which is provided with altar barriers . A sacrament niche with a door and interior paneling from the 14th century has been preserved. The bowl of the baptismal font comes from around the same time . The liturgical equipment consists of a silver-gilt chalice with a paten from 1704.

A pair of bronze candlesticks was made in the middle of the 17th century. A bell from 1620 rings the bell. The west gallery, the patronage and community chairs were created around 1800.
