The village church Krippendorf is in the district Krippendorf of the city of Jena in Thuringia .

location

The village church is located northwest of the central outskirts of Jena and at the beginning of the fertile, hilly arable plain around Weimar and Apolda in the rural area north of the village street.

history

The year of construction of the church is not documented. But the church is a Romanesque building. It is believed that the previous building was smaller. Therefore some changes outlined.

The church has a single nave , a rectangular choir tower and a one-bay, three-sided, polygonal closed choir of the same width.

Steeple

In the steeple Romanesque wall parts are detected. It is octagonal and has a tail dome with a lantern .

Choir

In the Gothic period, the choir was redesigned with a polygonal closure. The windows are Gothic .

ship

The lancet windows of the Gothic nave with their tracery fell victim to today's windows as well as the mansard roof in the course of renovation work in the years 1734–1844 .

Interior

The interior was redesigned and equipped with three-sided two-story galleries . The ceiling was rebuilt and the upper gallery beveled. The painting dates from 1734. Remnants of the painting from the 15th century have been cleverly incorporated. The vault collapsed in 1825 and was replaced by a cross vault . That weighs on Gothic consoles .

Furnishing

The font from 1630 is made of alabaster and the organ was built in around 1800.
