The Evangelical Lutheran village church of Zabelsdorf is a listed church building in Zabelsdorf , a district of the small town of Zehdenick in the northern Brandenburg district of Oberhavel .

Building description and history

South side

The field stone building from the second half of the 13th century, first mentioned in 1267 as Szabelstorp in Zabelsdorf, is a hall building with a gable roof . The western transverse tower has a square tower top with a tent roof . In addition, the church at the east end of the north wall has a barrel vaulted sacristy with a pent roof .

In 1772 the church underwent renovation and renovation work, including the west tower in its current form and the windows with flat arches. The tower is crowned by a weather vane with a ball bearing the year 1772 . The protruding main cornice, the tower superstructure decorated with square strips at the corners and the flat-arched windows of the nave also date from the 18th century . The church bell hanging in the tower was created by the Berlin bell foundry Johann Friedrich Thiele . It has a diameter of 93 centimeters and dates from 1797. In 1923 the church was painted. In 1950 the church was extensively restored again. The ogival west portal was renewed in brick .

The church book records of Zabelsdorf go back to the year 1789. In 1976 the neighboring district of Zabelsdorf was divided. The community of Zabelsdorf and the neighboring Ribbeck have belonged to the parish of Mildenberg since then .

Furnishing

The interior of the church is characterized by a simple wooden pulpit wall with a sound cover , a gallery and baroque pews from the 18th century. The sacred objects of the church include a gold-plated silver chalice with the imprints bear , the letters SM and the year 1703 .
