The church

The Protestant village church Zeutsch stands on a south-sloping mountain slope in the district of Zeutsch of the municipality of Uhlstädt-Kirchhasel in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

history

A church was first mentioned in a document in 1194. From this time, however, almost nothing can be seen in today's church building. Only the stone blocks of the base indicate older church or chapel stones. The rectangular building with large and small openings as well as the two ogival windows on the east side suggests more of the late 19th century.

The ridge turret with tail dome and lantern , which was added between 1744 and 1794, points to an earlier construction period in which the baroque renovation of the interior also took place, which was completed on June 24, 1749 with the consecration of the church . The pillars of the double galleries support the roof. The pulpit altar is on the east gallery .

In 1789 the organ was installed in the lower gallery.

Today the baptismal stand donated in 1766 with a kneeling angel figure is missing . It is said to have been stored in the art magazine in Arnstadt .

In the middle of the 19th century the church interior was redesigned in line with contemporary tastes. The east windows were glazed with colored glass, the pulpit was provided with pointed arches on the pulpit, and the baptism and the lectern and other things were rebuilt. In addition to the seats for the community, patronage boxes are also built in.

The interior was renovated in 1977. The exterior was renovated in 2003. From 2008 to 2011 the church tower and the roof of the nave were renovated. The restoration of the interior followed in 2017. The organ from 1766 by Christian Sigismund Voigt will be restored by Orgelbau Waltershausen from 2015 to 2019 .
