The Friends of Dorfkirchen in Not in Mecklenburg und Vorpommern e. V. is committed to the maintenance and repair of the village churches in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . He also supports and looks after local development associations of the churches in their founding and work. He works recognized non-profit, voluntary, politically independent and non-denominational.
The association was founded in 1994 in the refectory of the Dobbertin monastery to counteract the decay of the village churches. At that time the roofs of many village churches were leaking, the roof and half-timbered structures as well as the walls and vaults threatened with collapse. In the 21 years of its existence, the association was able to help over 125 village churches with more than 1.8 million euros. But even today there are still a large number of buildings that are at risk. The parishes often do not have the means alone to repair the sometimes enormous damage to towers, roofs and walls.
