The church in Samtens is a 15th century church building in the municipality of Samtens on Rügen .

history

In 1318 a church was first mentioned in the village. The current church, built in the 15th century, was renovated in the 17th century and changed in the Baroque style. In 1884 a western porch was added. In the years 1935 to 1936 the church was restored again, baroque paintings in the choir and the nave were restored. From 1989 to 1993 the tower was renovated and the interior was colored.

description

In its original state, the tile-roofed church is one of the brick Gothic buildings . It consists of a choir, nave, sacristy and a western porch. On the ship there is a small tower with a clockwork and dial.

Furnishing

Baroque paintings can be found in the choir and the main nave. There are late Gothic wall paintings above the painting of St. Christopher.

The delicate triumphal cross from the 15th century comes from an unknown master; it was initially on the rood screen and was moved to its current location on the altar in 1935/36 . The christening angel was probably made around 1700 by Martin Becker from Stralsund .

The 17th century epitaphs of the Family of the East depict Christ's ordeal and other scenes.
