Doris Hertwig-Bünger (born Hertwig ; * May 12, 1882 in Leipzig ; † January 18, 1968 in Dresden ) was a German educator and politician of the DVP , MdL and MdR.

Live and act

After completing secondary school, she passed the language teacher examination and the matriculation examination in Leipzig. She then studied modern philology and philosophy in Leipzig and Marburg . After passing the state examination in Leipzig , she obtained a doctorate in Dr. phil. in English studies in Marburg. After studying in England , France and Romania , she was a teacher in Dresden . She taught at the higher girls' school there, at the women's school and at the reform high school.

During the Weimar Republic , Hertwig-Bünger was a member of the DVP. For this she was a member of the Saxon state parliament between 1920 and 1926 . She was also a member of the Reichstag in the fourth electoral term (1928–1930) . In addition, she was an observer of the test center for trash and dirty writing, and she was a member of the Saxon state welfare and state youth welfare office.

She was active as chairwoman in various women's organizations. In 1919 she was chairwoman of the Association of Academically Trained Women Teachers, Saxony Department, and later also chairwoman of the Dresden women's associations. In 1926, Hertwig-Bünger set up the Women's Housing Aid Foundation , which had set itself the goal of creating homes for middle-class older people in order to make their apartments, which were often too large in old age, available to the housing market for families. In 1929 she initiated the Hertwig-Bünger-Heim, which was later named after her .

Hertwig-Bünger was married to the lawyer and politician Wilhelm Bünger . From 1926 to 1932 both lived in Oberlößnitz (today part of Radebeul ) in the Landhaus Hoflößnitzstraße 72 , which was available to her husband as an official apartment.
