Doris Piserchia
Doris Elaine Piserchia (born October 11, 1928 in Fairmont , West Virginia ) is an American science fiction writer.
Life
Piserchia is the daughter of Dewey Leslie Summers and Viola Violet, née Crihfield. She studied at Fairmont State College in Fairmont , West Virginia, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1950 . After graduating, she went to the US Navy , where she retired in 1954 with the rank of lieutenant. In 1953 she married Joseph John Piserchia and with him three daughters and two sons (born 1954, 1957, 1958, 1961 and 1962). From 1954 she was a housewife. From 1963 to 1965 she studied psychology at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City .
A first SF story Rocket of Gehenna appeared in Fantastic Stories in 1966 , followed by a dozen short stories. Another story, The Residents of Kingston , was to appear in the never-released third Dangerous Vision anthology by Harlan Ellison . From 1973 she began to write SF novels, the first two were Mister Justice (1973, German as Mister Justice , 1975) and Star Rider (1974, German as Sternenreiter , 1980), who at the Locus Awards 1975 on the 18th. Place came. Under the pseudonym Curt Selby, she wrote the vampire novels Blood County (1981) and I, Zombie (1982), in which the deceased are made into laborless slaves by means of implants.
