The Marek gang was a pimp organization in the Hamburg red light district of St. Pauli around the former bouncer Carsten Marek , who also called themselves “Hamburger Jungs” and who succeeded the GMBH and the Nutella gang .

The founder of the Marek gang was the then plumber and kickboxing world champion Carsten Marek (born May 5, 1960 in Hamburg-Rothenburgsort ). After entering the red-light district as a housekeeper, he had 200 prostitutes buy for himself , most of them in the Eros Center on the Reeperbahn , as well as in Herbertstraße , Davidstraße and Hans-Albers-Platz . The time of the Marek gang, which dominated the Kiez with great severity, lasted from about 2000 to 2006. Many of the 50 to 80 "Hamburg boys" from the bodybuilder scene already knew each other from their time together in martial arts at the Dulsberg sports studio " Bushido". The division of the districts between German (Hans-Albers-Platz side) and international pimp groups ( Albanians , Russians , Turks on the northern Reeperbahn side) also dates from this time . In 2005, the Hamburg police began massive raids against the Marek gang's establishments. In 2007, Marek was sentenced to 22 months probation for commercial human trafficking , sexual exploitation and promotion of prostitution , which generated around 20 million euros. Also in 2005 there was a shootout near Herbertstrasse between the "Hamburg boys" and rival pimps. In 2006, at the start of the trial against the Marek group, there was a women's demonstration demanding the release of their husbands, friends and business partners. Neither the evidence of a criminal organization nor of the exploitation of the dependent prostitutes, who were allegedly physically coerced to work seven nights a week, could not be produced. The trial resulted in nine acquittals, two suspended sentences, and one year and nine month sentence without parole. Overall, the Marek gang is said to have made a profit of 27 million euros.

When it became foreseeable that the "golden age" of pimping in Hamburg's Kiez was over, Marek left the nudist / sauna club and the large brothel Babylon (approx. 80 prostitutes) in the Süderstrasse in Hamburg-Hamm in 2014 to open up new markets build.

The successor, or the power vacuum, the Marek gang took over the Eros-Center Gang around the Albanian Sefadin "Sefi" L.

In 2010 Marek married the Cuban ex-dancer Alina at a major social event . Mario Amtmann (former chairman of the Hells Angels, Charter Hamburg), "Albaner-Toni" Sefer Osmani, Mariam Komeyli ("L'Tur") and the perfume entrepreneur Phillip Sahling also took part in the ceremony.
