Doris Trachsel (born April 27, 1984 in Freiburg im Üechtland ) is a former Swiss cross-country skier .

Career

Trachsel took part in competitions of the Fédération Internationale de Ski from 2000 to 2014 . At the Nordic Junior World Championships in 2002 in Schonach in the Black Forest , she was eighth over five kilometers in the free technique and 28th in the mass start race over 15 kilometers and 31st in the sprint. A year later at the Junior World Championships in 2003 in Sollefteå , Sweden , she was eleventh in the mass start race over 15 kilometers, 15th over five kilometers in the classic technique and 16th in the sprint. At her third and last Junior World Championships in 2004 in Stryn , Norway , she ran in fourth place over five kilometers in the free technique by just 2.5 seconds past a bronze medal that went to the Russian Valentina Novikowa . She also achieved respectable results in the mass start race over 15 kilometers in sixth and in the sprint in tenth. She was twelfth with the Swiss cross-country relay.

Until 2009 she mainly competed in the races of the Alpine Cup, which she finished in 2008 in third place in the overall ranking. She ran her first World Cup race in Bern in December 2004 , which she finished with 29th place in the sprint and thus also won her World Cup points. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2005 in Oberstdorf , she finished 47th over 10 km freestyle and 11th place with the relay. In 2009 she became Swiss champion over 10 km freestyle. From the 2009/10 season she mainly took part in World Cup races, in which she mainly placed in midfield. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , she came in 30th place in the sprint. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo , she achieved 33rd place over 10 km classic. In March 2011 she achieved her best individual World Cup result with 12th place in the sprint in Lahti . At the Swiss cross-country skiing championship 2011 in Bex , she took third place in the 10 km freestyle, second place in the sprint and first place in the 10 km pursuit race. In February 2014 she won the 42 km freestyle at the Gommerlauf . After missing the Olympic standard for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , she ended her career after the 2013/14 season.
