Nowikowa appeared internationally at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2003 in Sollefteå . There she took sixth place over 5 km classic, fifth place in the 15 km mass start race and won the gold medal with the Russian relay. The following year she won the bronze medal in the sprint and over 5 km freestyle and the gold medal in the relay at the Nordic Junior Ski World Championships in Stryn . Only in the mass start race over 15 kilometers did she miss precious metal as ninth. She ran her first World Cup race in Stockholm in February 2004 , which she finished in 51st place in the sprint. In the same month, she got her first World Cup points with 29th place in the sprint in Trondheim . At the U23 World Championships in 2006 in Kranj , she won silver in the sprint. At the 2007 Winter Universiade in Pragelato , Italy , she was 23rd in the pursuit race over ten kilometers and 27th in the sprint. In February 2008 she started in Rybinsk for the first time in the Eastern Europe Cup and achieved 35th place in the sprint. At the Winter Universiade 2009 in Yabuli she won over 5 km freestyle, in the skiathlon and with the relay, the gold medal, while in the sprint after winning the qualification as fourth of the finals, she just missed another medal. After two second places at the Eastern Europe Cup in Vershina Tjoi at the beginning of the 2009/10 season, she achieved 25th place at the Tour de Ski 2009/10 . With the eighth place in the sprint in Oberhof, she achieved her first top ten placement in the World Cup. There were five results in the World Cup, including two results in the top ten. In February 2010, she won her first race in the Eastern Europe Cup in the Rybinsk skiathlon. At the end of the season she finished 14th at the World Cup finals in Falun and reached 34th place in the overall World Cup. In the overall ranking of the Eastern Europe Cup, she came second. After second place in the sprint and first place over 10 km classic at the Eastern Europe Cup in Krasnogorsk at the beginning of the following season, she made it into the points four times in the World Cup. She achieved her best individual result in the World Cup with sixth place in the skiathlon in Rybinsk and her only podium finish in the World Cup the day after with second place in the relay. Her results at the season highlight of the Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo were 17th place in the 30 km mass start race, 21st place over ten kilometers in classic style, 26th place in the pursuit race over 15 kilometers and sixth place with the relay. She finished the season in 52nd place in the overall World Cup and eighth in the overall ranking of the Eastern Europe Cup. Also in the season she was Russian champion in sprint, over 10 km classic and over 10 km freestyle. At the beginning of the 2011/12 season she came 24th at the Nordic Opening in Kuusamo . In the further course of the season she reached the points six times in the World Cup and thus reached 53rd place in the overall World Cup. In her last seasons 2012/13 and 2013/14 she mainly started in the Eastern Europe Cup. Her best placement was sixth place over 5 km freestyle in November 2012 in Vershina Tjoi. After the Russian championships in Tyumen in March 2014 , where a 13th place in the skiathlon was her best result, she ended her career.
