Dottighofen is a hamlet in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district in Baden-Württemberg . It belongs to the district of Biengen , an independent municipality until 1972 and today's district of the city of Bad Krozingen .

geography

The hamlet of Dottighofen is located in the Breisgau , about 16 kilometers southwest of Freiburg and 2.5 kilometers northwest of the city center of Bad Krozingen. The Neumagen river , which rises on the Schauinsland, separates Dottighofen from Biengen. After entering the Upper Rhine Plain, the straightened river has only a slight gradient here. The hamlet consists of a farm, a few houses and a chapel with a cemetery. Immediately to the north-west is the SV Biengen soccer field, which was inaugurated in 1975.

history

The place probably existed since the 8th century. From the castle Dottighofen nothing is preserved. In the year 853 Dottighofen was mentioned in a document in the Lorsch Codex on the occasion of a donation to the Lorsch Abbey.

chapel

The St. Jergen Chapel in Dottighofen has existed in its current form since the beginning of the 17th century. The Ross blessing was still given here on St. George's Day (April 23) in the middle of the 19th century . Today the church serves as a cemetery chapel in the village of Biengen.
