The Douve is a coastal river in France that runs in the Manche department in the Normandy region . It rises in the municipality of Tollevast , generally drains in a south-easterly direction, crosses the Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin Regional Nature Park and flows into the English Channel after 79 kilometers northeast of Carentan . Between Carentan and the estuary, the river was expanded to the Canal de Carentan à la Mer , which can also be navigated by ships.
