Sottevast is a French city with a population of 1,385 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Manche in the region of Normandy . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Cherbourg and the canton of Bricquebec . The inhabitants call themselves Sottevastais .
Geographical location
Sottevast is located about 14 kilometers south-southeast of Cherbourg-Octeville on the Douve in the center of the Cotentin peninsula . Sottevast is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Brix in the north and east, Négreville in the south-east, Rocheville and Saint-Martin-le-Hébert in the south, Bricquebec in the south-west and Rauville-la-Bigot in the west and north-west. The municipality's train station is on the Lison – Lamballe railway line and the Mantes-la-Jolie – Cherbourg railway line .
