Couville is a French commune with 1,143 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Manche department in the Normandy region . The inhabitants are called Couvillais .
geography
Couville is located on the Cotentin peninsula , in the Armorican massif, around ten kilometers southwest of Cherbourg . The municipality borders on:

Couville is crossed by the Paris-Cherbourg railway line, but there is no longer a train station. The next stops are Cherbourg (actually the terminus) in the north, and Valognes in the south.
Toponymy
Couville is made up of Koli and -ville . Koli is a Scandinavian name, while -ville is a French ending of Latin origin that is common in Normandy ( ville means city).
