Bon Sauveur chapel in the Pont-l'Abbé district

Bon Sauveur (English: good savior) in the village of Pont-l'Abbé, which is shared by Picauville and Étienville, was a poor house run by the Sœurs du Bon Sauveur (sisters of Bon Sauveur). It was expanded over time and also received the deaf and mute and orphans. In 1853 it became an insane asylum. In 1903 the institution received the mentally ill from Cherbourg , Valognes and Saint-Lô, but also from Paris when there were not enough places in Paris. The archives were destroyed in a bombing on June 10, 1944.
