A former quarry in the sands of the Triassic opened. The sand had been washed up by a river.

The quarry has become a landfill. The rubbish comes from all over the Cotentin. More and more biogas and compost are generated with the biowaste.

Éroudeville is derived from the French ending -ville and from the Scandinavian name Harold .
