Gatteville-le-Phare is a French municipality with 490 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Manche in the region of Normandy , by its distinctive lighthouse , the most de Pointe Barfleur , is known was built.
Toponymy
The name is derived from the Germanic name Gatto. Then follows the French ending -ville ( ville "city"). In 1947 le-Phare was added, French for lighthouse .
