Hangars for airships

During the First World War , the French army decided to use aircraft against German submarines . On December 6, 1916, the project for two hangars for airships , one made of wood and one made of concrete, in the hamlet of Bazirerie in the parish of Écausseville was approved. The wooden one was built from January to August 1917. The concrete one was built in autumn 1917. The latter is still there today and has had the status of a monument historique since 2003 .
